Beginners Watercolour and Mixed Media Workshop
Enjoy the process of creating your own unique piece of art using watercolour paints and other mixed media. This 4 hour workshop is perfect for beginners who have an interest in learning watercolour painting techniques in a relaxed context.
The workshop will take place at my home art studio in Lindfield, Sydney, NSW. We will begin exploring the beautiful medium of watercolour through a series of fun exercises which will teach you techniques in a loose and expressionist way. We will also touch on the basics of colour theory and colour mixing and explore working with pastels and paint pens incorporating mark making into your watercolour work.
The second part of the workshop will involve you painting your own watercolour artwork using the techniques learned and incorporating mixed media elements into your painting. We will find a composition within your painting and by the end of the workshop you will take home with you a unique piece of framed art which you can proudly hang on your wall.
Please note that I will not be teaching you to paint a realistic scene, still life etc. This workshop is about loose play and experimentation and enjoying the process of using the paints and other media. There is no "right" or "wrong". My aim is for you to enjoy yourself and provide you with a "taster" that will hopefully wet your appetite for more structured learning into watercolour painting.
I will provide all materials and refreshments, you just need to bring yourself and an open mind.
The cost of the workshop is $180 per person.
Group size is a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 participants.
I CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE ANY ADVERTISED WORKSHOP DATES. However I can accommodate specific dates if you would like to get together a group of friends/family/work colleagues.
I can also adapt this workshop for corporate/staff events.
Please message me (via the Contacts page) if you would like further information, or to make a booking.
"Elizabeth's Beginner Watercolour Workshop was wonderful. Her studio is welcoming, bright and airy and it was a delight to spend the morning there learning and painting. I found the warm-up exercises and lessons about colour mixing really helpful as a complete beginner. Elizabeth provided guidance and advice about colours and techniques in our final artwork. It was wonderful to see the variety of paintings produced by the 5 other students at our workshop; everyone produced a beautiful painting and Elizabeth helps you frame the final piece - it's amazing how good they looked in the frame for a group of beginners!"

"I did Elizabeth's Watercolour Workshop with my teenage daughter and we both loved it. Elizabeth taught us different techniques and let us experiment with colours, mixing and mark making. We had access to all Elizabeth’s wonderful and inspiring materials such as brushes, pens, paints and papers and we felt like we were in a lolly shop. The morning flew by and in the end the result of our fun experiments was a beautifully mounted and framed small masterpiece which gave us all the confidence to go home and continue our creative journey. Thank you for a wonderful experience!"
